Tournament help
Help
Complete step-by-step instructions for registering and following a tournament, and for creating, setting up, and running one as an administrator.
For players
1. Finding tournaments
Open Tournaments in the menu. The page shows two lists: upcoming and past tournaments. Use the filter bar (funnel icon) to narrow results by date range, name, city, or tournament type.
- Public tournaments are visible to everyone, including guests not logged in.
- Private tournaments are visible only to their administrators. If you expect to be invited to a private event, contact the administrator directly.
2. Checking the tournament detail before registering
Click the tournament name or the eye icon to open the detail page. Check all the information before registering:
- Date and time — when the event starts.
- City and address — exact location so you can plan your journey.
- Registration deadline — you must register before this date and time.
- Capacity — number of registered players vs. the maximum. Once the cap is reached, registration closes.
- Entry fee — amount to pay at the venue (if applicable).
- Propositions — full description of the format, rules, schedule, and contact information prepared by the organiser.
3. Registering for a tournament
- Open the tournament detail page.
- Click Register. Fill in your name, e-mail, and phone number in the registration form.
- Submit the form. A confirmation message appears and you receive a confirmation e-mail.
4. Player link — submitting your own match result
Once the tournament starts, the administrator can share a personal player link with you (by e-mail or by copying it). This link lets you enter the score of your current match without a normal login:
- Open the link sent by the administrator.
- The page shows your current match — opponent's name, set inputs.
- Enter the scores for each set and click Save.
- When a new round is drawn, the page refreshes automatically and shows your next match.
5. Following live progress and photos
Once the tournament starts, the detail page switches to live mode — it shows the current round's matches and the live standings table. Refresh the page to see the latest results. You can also browse uploaded photos: scroll down to the photo strip, open an album, and use the built-in gallery to view full-size images.
6. Final standings
After the tournament finishes, it moves to the Past tournaments list. Open the detail to see the final standings, full match history, and photos. The data stays available indefinitely.
For administrators
1. Creating a new tournament

| Administrators | helper@club.cz |
E-mail addresses of additional people who can manage this tournament. Add each address and click Add. The user must have an existing account. |
| Propositions | — | Rich-text description of the event — format, scoring rules, schedule, contact, prizes. Written using the built-in editor. You can also paste in an image (e.g. a PDF scan of the propositions) and resize/align it with the toolbar. |
2. Preparing the player list before the start
Open the tournament start page (click the document icon in the tournament list or go to /turnaj/{id}/zahajit). Here you can review all registered players:
- Check that names, e-mails, and phone numbers are correct.
- If needed, the administrator can add players manually (before the first draw).
- Confirm the total number of players matches your expected capacity before starting.
3. Selecting the tournament format
On the start page, choose the format before drawing the first round. Two formats are available:
- Swiss system — players are never eliminated; each round they are paired with an opponent of similar score. Good for social tournaments where everyone plays the same number of matches.
- Table + knockout — players first play in groups, then the top players advance to a knockout phase.
Swiss system settings
| Setting | Example | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Number of sets played | 3 |
Total sets in one match (not sets to win — all sets are played). Example: 3 means each match has exactly 3 sets regardless of score. |
| Number of balls (points per set) | 21 |
How many points are needed to win a set (e.g. 21 for standard badminton, 11 for a faster format). |
| Must win by 2 | Yes |
If Yes, a player must be ahead by at least 2 points to win a set (deuce rule — same as standard badminton). If No, the set ends exactly at the set point count. |
| Win-by-2 cap | 30 |
Shown only when Must win by 2 is enabled. The maximum score at which the set stops regardless of the 2-point difference (e.g. 30 in standard badminton = if it reaches 29:29, the next point wins). Prevents endless sets. |
| Points per won set | 2 |
Tournament points awarded for winning a set (not to be confused with the ball score within the set). These points determine the standings. |
| Catch point enabled | Yes / No |
Enables a special scoring rule where, at a specific ball count, the value of the set and/or the bonus points change. Used in some regional competition formats. Leave disabled if you are not sure. |
| Catch point ball count | 20 |
Shown only when catch point is enabled. The score at which the catch-point rule activates (e.g. when it reaches 20:20, the next point ends the set and awards the catch-point bonus). |
| Points with catch point | 1 |
Tournament points for a set won via catch point (typically fewer than a normal set win). |
| Points for catch point | 1 |
Bonus points awarded to the player who triggers the catch point. |
Table + knockout settings
| Setting | Example | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Advancing players | 2 |
Number of players who advance from each group to the knockout phase. Minimum 2. |
4. Drawing the first round and managing rounds
- First draw: On the start page, click Draw tournament. The system pairs players for the first round and switches to the round management view.
- Record results: For each match in the displayed round, enter the scores of all sets and click Save. The standings update immediately.
- Next round draw: Once all matches of the current round are completed, click Draw next round. The system pairs players based on their current standings (players with equal scores are matched against each other).
- Finish: After all planned rounds are completed, click Finish tournament. The tournament moves to the completed list and final standings are frozen.
5. Player links — letting players submit their own results
On the standings table (visible after the first draw), each player row has action buttons for their personal link:
- Open — opens the player's entry page in the current browser tab so you can see what they see.
- Copy — copies the link to the clipboard so you can paste it into a message or WhatsApp.
- E-mail — opens a dialog to send the link directly to the player's registered e-mail address.
The player link page refreshes automatically when a new round is drawn, so the player always sees their current match without having to reload.
6. Tournament photos
Photos can be uploaded by both players (from the tournament detail page) and administrators (from the start/management page). Photos are grouped into albums.
- To upload: scroll to the photo section, click Upload photo, and select an image from your device.
- Administrators can browse albums, open the built-in gallery for a full-screen view, and delete inappropriate or duplicate photos.
7. Finishing the tournament
- Make sure all match scores are entered for the last round.
- On the management page, click Finish tournament (red button in the top section).
- The tournament status changes to Finished and it moves to the past tournaments list.
- The final standings, all match history, and photos remain available to everyone on the detail page.
Finding public competitions and notifications
The homepage lists public badminton leagues and tournaments. Filter them separately by country, city and name. A country suggested from your IP can be changed or cleared. Country and city are required when creating or editing a tournament; choose them from the location suggestions.
Action results and errors appear in a prominent fixed strip at the bottom and remain visible while scrolling. Close them using the cross. An email queued for sending has not necessarily been delivered yet.
